Is Ironing you hair bad?

I wash my hair once a week, and I let it dry naturally, and its very tight bouncy curls and once its fully dry, I iron each section of my hair holding a towel under it and combing it out with a brush whilst doing that. Is this bad for my hair? Any tips on causing less damage for no cost or less than $3.30?

Ironing is just as bad as straightening it- which is pretty bad. The heat damages your hair, so you have to treat your hair with quality hair product.

Brush through your hair while it's wet so that there are NO tangles in it- or else you'll iron them in, which you don't want lol. Also, be sure that your hair is completely dry before you iron it. (brushing your hair thoroughly gets a good percentage of the water out, so it'll take less time for the rest to dry)

And though this won't be under 4 bucks, try getting a real straightener. Straighteners are built for hair; irons aren't.

Say what u iron your hair and only wash it once a week, that's just wrong man...!!!

Ironing isn't that bad , its the hangers that ruin it.

Is Ironing you hair bad?

no, it should be ok as long as the iron is not too hot. to check, put the iron on a tissue and if the tissue turns yellow, then the iron is too hot.

I iron my hair and I can iron a lot more with an iron than a hair straightner (i have very thick hair)

just use a deep conditioner once a week and dont iron everyday and you'll have gorgeous hair!

I wash my hair twice daily for the most part...if I wanted to straighten it I would use and have used flattening irons...you need to blow dry it and use the iron every time you shower if you want it straight...

it'll probably start thinning and frizzing, just buy a cheap straightener

Ironing your hair is really bad! It drys your hair out. when you wash your hair leave Conditioner on it for 2 minutes and it will keep it looking heathy!

i sometimes do the same thing...personally i think my hair comes out better when i use an iron and its faster...but to make sure i dont damage my hair i use an olive oil product called "root stimulator" it helps protect your hair against damage from heat like curling and straightening iron and it smells good...i totally recomend you using it ...it really does work

R U USING AN ACTUAL IRON? OR DO U MEAN A FLAT IRON? U SHOULD USE A FLAT IRON THAT CAN DRY WET HAIR 4 U. I HAVE A FRIEND AND SHE HAS 1 BUT I FORGET THE NAME OF IT.. I DON'T THINK THERE'S MUC OF ANYTHING U COULD USE THAT'S UNDER $3.30... GOOD LUCK

May i ask one quick question first.... WHY ARE YOU IRONING YOUR HAIR?????? a flat iron is on thing, but a regular clothing iron? wow.

Is Ironing you hair bad?

Yes, once in a blue moon is alright if don't have anything else, but I don't recomend it. I'm sorry to say you can't get anything that is less than $3.30. You need to INVEST in a ceramic hair straightener. You need to be careful with which one you get though, there are many that say ceramic but they aren't the real ones. You are best off getting one at a beauty supply store, you need to go where hair dressers buy their products. Whatever you do make sure you hair is completely dry or else your hair will literaly sizzle and burn. It would also be in your best interest to deep condition your full head of hair once a week for 20-30 minutes if you are wanting to straighten your hair on a weekly basis. When conditioning on a daily basis, don't condition your full head of hair, only from where your ponytail starts down to the roots. It's also good to give your hair a break once in a while, where you just let it be the way it is. There is also this stuff that my hairdresser friend gave me that you mist in your hair that makes it silky and shinny. She's recomended me to spray some in the palms of my hands and work it into the tips of my hair. I found that it works really good. This will protect your hair from burning while you straighten it. It may be a bit expensive for the good ceramic hair straighteners, but it is definately worth it. My friends come over to use it all the time because it works way better than their "ceramic straighteners". Ask your hairdresser to recommend you a decent brand that is good for your hair.
