Time for a new make-up brush?

How do I know when I need a new make up brush? I've had mine for about maybe 6 months. But it's starting to leave black hair on my face(the brush is black). Should I get a new one and how often should you get new makeup?

it might just be a low quality brush, the hairs are not supposed to fall out. throw it away and go a head a spend a little more on a set that will last for ever. In fact I recommend more than one set because you will need to wash one set every week, yes they get dirty and you will be putting all that dirt on your clean face. I always recommend more than one set because you can use one set while the other set is drying. Wash in warm water and gently dry with a towel, then put them in a window to dry naturally by the sun. I also recommend after you wash them to dip them in alcohol before you dry them. The alcohol will sterilize them. This goes for the little sponge applicators for your eye shadows and sponges for liquid make up. They fall apart after a while so always keep extra. I make a point of sitting down and cleaning out all my makeup at least once a month. This way I can throw out anything that has expired. and I sharpen all my eye pencils and dip them in alcohol to clean them. don't worry the alcohol dries and don't irritate the eyes. And of course I look through my brushes at this time for any that may need to be cleaned that I over looked weekly. Remember this stuff goes on your face and you want to keep it clean.

Yes, I think that's one of the signs that tells you to get new makeup brushes. How often do you wash them? I wash them once a month to get rid of the bacteria.

make-up varies....lipgloss lasts about 1 year, fondation concealer etc. is about 3 months, eye shadow if u don't use it just toss it but it lasts about 9 months brushes last about 5-6 months...but unless if skin is dark try to get brushes with light colored bristles so if they do come off and u dont notice it wont be as obvious : )

well first you should make sure that you wash your brush it gets rid of all the dead skin cell gross hun. wash it every 2 weeks just run hot water. you should get a new on about every 6 month but if you don't have to then don't wast money duh. just clean it but sense your brush is leaving hairs that a good sing for a new one and don't wast money one make-up wait tell your out then get new. unless you don't use it that much then i would bye new every year

You usually shouldn't have to replace your brushes. But if the fact that your brush is shedding annoys you, go ahead and replace it.

As for replacing makeup, mascara and other eye makeup should be replaced every 3-4 months, but other makeup should be replace every 1-2 years.
