Taking care of curled hair?

Recently I had my hair permanently curled and my hairdresser told me not to brush or comb it, just every morning after I wake up, to apply some water and shape it with my hands...Is that correct? If I don't brush it, how do I get rid of the dead hairs? I hear mixed opinions about this. Some people tell me not to brush it and to apply some special foam for curled hair, others say that I should brush it after all....What do you think? Thanks.

First, you need to wash it. Maybe every other day just wet it. Then put a leave in conditioner in it. I recommend Infusium from CVS.Make sure it is the leave in kind. Now gently pick your hair with a pick. this will remove loose hairs. Now put mousse or some styling gel on it and scrunch it with your hands. Letting it air dry will give you the most curl, but if you must blow dry, get a diffuser(also at CVS) it fits on the end of the blow dryer. It sounds like a lot, but once you get the hang of it-its a breeze!P.S. What hair dresser says dont comb your hair?

i have curly hair..if you brush it when it is dry it turns into a giant fuzz ball. you can brush it wet, but in order to get rid of dead hairs you can also comb it with a large tooth comb when it is dry.

I have curly hair, DON'T brush it ! You will no longer have curly hair, just a nasty looking PUFF!

Use your fingers in the morning like a brush and work through the tangles.

FYI a wonderful product to use 2-3 times a day is "bed Head After Party" EVERYBODY should use this yummy smelling, non-greasy stuff!

You shouldn't brush it, but you can use a wide toothed comb or a hair pick (available at drugstores,etc.) to separate the curls and remove dead hairs. Use a light touch, and do not tug or pull hard on your hair or you will break it.
