Does hair have to be parted on the side to get side swept bangs?

Or is it more common for the stylist to brush the part of your hair that will become the bangs forward from a center part? Thanks!

Well I have side bangs and part to the side, but you can get it down the middle. She will cut your bangs 1st on the side you want and then part you hair if you want her to and then she will cut it.
