Help? horse hair?
It could be a number of reasons.
It could be a mineral deficiecy, there are no clear signs of this, so the body condition of your horse could look normal. Copper deficiency can lead to hairloss or loss of condition. Copper can be found in most feeds.
Bots, can also cause the coat to go dry, altough you would see some signs of colic and signs of parasites on the skin.
It could be that ur horse has an inability to sweat, if your living in hot climates.
It could just mean that your horse needs a good wash, a good quality wash not a lot of washes - dont want to wash all the oils off
Hope this maybe helped

Body hair? This time of year in the US? It sounds more like the coat is becoming ready to shed. Oil glands tend to reduce the amount of oil before shedding. What you described is the result. Other possibilities are sun bleaching and weathering.
