I really want to have this big sexy hair and my hair's really straight in nature. I've tried using volumizing mousse, blow dry my toweled dry hair upside down with a round brush.. but my "big hair" never lasts long. I also tried using styling clay and wax. It really bugs me when my hair ( especially the crown area) becomes really flat again, while the rest of my hair is still poofy.
Ladies, how do you volumize your hair? And what product?

for the crown area and wherever else needed i always use a root lifter on my clients with "flat" hair...the product i prefer is by redken..its called body full weightlifter...all you do is spray at the root area and style but be careful not to use to much as a little goes a long way and it last all day..you can also do a little backcombing with hairspray that will work too...hope this helps

Paul Mitchell products are quite expensive but volumise your hair real well, and over time makes it thicker anyways.
What I do is straighten it first so it goes spikeyish and volumise with a SPRAY and brush up towards roots so it poofs up on top and then i suggest you srpay with a hair spray that keep it like that.
I'm not sure though if you want this style I'm suggesting?

If you get some layers cut into it, it will help volumize. That and a body perm. Otherwise you have to load up with product, and some of us think that's just nasty.
Also, lay off the conditioner.

Put your hair upside down, (in the hanging position), not too long, the blood will go to your head! While in that position comb all your hair, with a strong comb, then come back to normal position, put some spray on and voila!

I have the same problem. I have tried every product under the sun, from cheap to expensive. My beautician says that I try too hard. She said do not use a conditioner, as this weights the hair down. I tried using the same shampoo and mousse that she does (Matrix Amplify shampoo and Vavoom mousse) but Suave curl definition shampoo and scrunch mousse work better in my hands. Also, Rave hairspray is good because it dries quickly. I tried TreSemme, but did not like it - it did not hold well. I cannot duplicate what my beautician does using the products she uses, but I did find a good site with helpful tips, which I enclose herein. So shampoo, do not use a conditioner, use a mousse , and then go here for the rest of tricks:

My beautician says hair spray is the key and the site above validates what she says.
